#WomenInLearning Series: Germaine Broussard

March is Women’s History Month, and the theme this year is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.”

To celebrate the stories of women in the learning and development field and multiple education spaces, we reached out to internal and external partners and thought leaders to talk to them about their professional lives and the stories that have inspired them.

At ansrsource, we believe in the power of storytelling to educate, connect, and enrich people’s lives. We are grateful to the women who chose to share their stories with us. We hope you enjoy learning about the women we spoke with as much as we loved speaking with them.

Happy Women’s History Month!

Germaine Broussard, Sr. Project Manager at HealthStream

What is your favorite part about working in Learning and Design?
I love learning and inspiring others to want to learn by developing impactful, meaningful, and memorable eLearning. I am fortunate to work for a company that lives its mission, which allows me to make an impact in healthcare, diversity, inclusion, and learning.

Is there a woman you looked up to as a child?
My Aunt Diana is the woman I looked up to as a child and still do today. She was a nurse and the ultimate caregiver. She exposed me to the importance of higher education, the theatre, the need to continuously learn and improve, and being self-aware. She is not here today but lives in my heart and inspires me to be a light.

Do you have a favorite kids’ book?
Dream Big, Little One by Vashti Harrison is a wonderful children’s book and is tailored to brown skin children. It tells you there is nothing you can’t do and to look at the leaders that came before. From Dr. Martin Luther King to Rosa Parks to Maya Angelou – it leaves you inspired as you go to sleep and dream of becoming anything you want.

Is there a book you’d like everyone to read?
The Light We Carry by Michelle Obama. First Lady Michelle Obama is #goals #inspiration! She’s truly an inspiration for higher education and learning and developing. In The Light We Carry, Michelle gives readers a series of stories and insightful reflections on change, challenge, and power. She discusses being a mother, daughter, spouse, friend, and First Lady, and shares the habits and principles she has developed to successfully adapt to change and overcome various obstacles. A must read!
