Position title
Lead Product Tester (QA Lead)
Description

We are looking for a Lead Product Tester to own product quality across our platforms built on the MERN stack and AWS. This role goes beyond manual testing โ€” you will define test strategy, guide automation efforts, mentor testers, and ensure security, data protection, and learning standards compliance are embedded into our testing processes.

You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and DevOps to ensure every release meets functional, performance, security, and compliance expectations.

Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Ownership

  • Define and own the overall QA and test strategy across products and releases.
  • Plan and execute manual and automated testing for web applications built on MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js (MERN).
  • Ensure test coverage for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end scenarios.
  • Act as the final quality gate before production releases.

Automation & Tooling

  • Guide and mentor the team on automation testing best practices.
  • Design and maintain automation frameworks (Playwright / Cypress / Selenium or equivalent).
  • Identify areas where automation provides maximum value and reduce reliance on repetitive manual testing.
  • Review automation coverage and ensure it is aligned with business-critical flows.

Security & Data Protection Testing

  • Perform and oversee security-focused testing, including:
    • Multi-tenant isolation and access control
    • Role-based authorization
    • Data leakage prevention between tenants
  • Validate PII handling, data security, and privacy controls in line with best practices.
  • Work closely with DevOps and Engineering on vulnerability validation, regression testing after fixes, and secure release verification.

Cloud & Environment Validation

  • Validate deployments on AWS environments (dev, staging, production).
  • Test cloud-related scenarios such as:
    • Configuration issues
    • Environment-specific behavior
    • Scaling and performance impact
  • Coordinate with DevOps for CI/CD-integrated test execution.

LMS & Learning Standards Testing

  • Test LMS-related functionality and integrations, including:
    • SCORM packages
    • Course completion tracking
    • Progress, certificates, and learner data consistency
  • Ensure compliance with learning standards and validate behavior across different LMS platforms.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and review the work of QA/test engineers.
  • Define testing standards, documentation, and reporting practices.
  • Provide clear quality metrics, risk assessments, and release readiness updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to ensure testable acceptance criteria are defined early.
Qualifications
  • Strong experience as a QA Lead / Lead Product Tester for web applications.
  • Hands-on testing experience with MERN stack applications.
  • Solid understanding of AWS-based architectures.
  • Proven experience with automation testing frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, etc.).
  • Good understanding of security testing concepts:
    • Multi-tenancy
    • Data isolation
    • PII protection
    • Authentication & authorization flows
  • Experience testing LMS systems, SCORM content, or learning platforms is a strong plus.
  • Ability to review logs, APIs, and backend behavior to identify issues early.

Nice to Have

  • Experience testing SaaS or multi-tenant platforms.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and test automation integration.
  • Familiarity with accessibility or compliance testing.
  • Experience working with distributed or fast-growing teams.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
  • Strong ownership of product quality โ€” not just test execution.
  • Ability to guide and uplift the testing team, especially in automation and security thinking.
  • Clear communication with engineering and product teams.
  • A mindset focused on preventing defects early, not just finding them late.
