Relevant Experience: 2-4 years (Creative writing, script writing, academic writing, research, content migration, editing, proofreading)
Bonus Experience: Writing assessments, teaching
Editors are allocated to several different types of projects involving one or more of the following responsibilities:
Reviewing Original Writing
• Understand learning objectives and course competencies for required writing
• Research complex and unfamiliar topics using quick, advanced, and Boolean search techniques
• Understand content and rewrite it to create new and original material
• Modify writing style to be able to write academic/creative/script writing
Reviewing Assessment Writing
• Research content on subjects as per the requirement of the project
• Create assessments (formative and summative) on a variety of subjects and for lower levels of Bloom (Remember, Understand, and Apply)
Reviewing Content Migration or Basic Course Reviews
• Perform content migration activities between platforms
• Conduct course reviews of online courses for an online university following extensive client guidelines
Reviewing Scripts
Content Research
- Ability to curate content
- Ability to conduct multi-disciplinary research
- Ability to effectively use different web-search techniques, including Boolean search
- Ability to differentiate between credible and non-credible sources of information
- Ability to conduct focused research as per client briefs
- Ability to conduct exploratory research to discover details and create high-level structures
Reading Comprehension
- Ability to recall and summarize content
- Ability to determine the idea of given content
- Ability to interpret and apply content to scenarios accurately
- Ability to critically analyze content
- Ability to draw inferences from unfamiliar content
Content Review
- Ability to spot patterns in content and reorganize in logical manner
- Ability to identify gaps in logic and correct them
- Ability to catch small and big grammatical issues in writing and correct them
- Ensure that project guidelines and standards are met in all deliverables
- Identify errors in comprehension and interpretation of source content
• Write clear and concise walkthrough scripts for technical/computer-related subjects and topics such as C++, Java etc.
• Create scripts for F&A subjects so that they can be converted into guided examples
Reviewing Videos
Communicate and coordinate with the following teams and provide them relevant inputs:
• Leads: Provide deliverables, incorporate review feedback and reach out for clarifications and guidance
• Project Managers: Provide task time estimates and task status; communicate need for resources/infrastructure
• Peers: Assist in content review and storyboarding tasks, provide peer reviews for language and quality checks
• Client Stakeholders: Ask questions to clarify content gaps and doubts, assist in walkthroughs of deliverables
- Identify mismatches between produced content and specified objectives
Verbal Communication
- Ability to communicate with peers effectively
- Ability to communicate with clients effectively
Technical English
- Fluency with English language and grammar at the intermediate or advanced level
- BA in subjects such as Mass Communication / English Literature /Journalism / Psychology/ Education/ F&A/Computer Science
- Any formal training in writing or design would be a bonus
- Knowledge of or experience with content authoring and/or web media creation tools is a bonus
