Background

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education plays a pivotal role in shaping a nation’s future by fostering critical thinking, design capabilities, and innovation. Recognizing this, a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing hands-on mobile science education to underprivileged children and public school teachers across India, partnered with ansrsource. The shared goal was to develop comprehensive STEM modules that catered to the diverse linguistic and geographical needs of students.

Challenges and Objectives

The client sought to create a mobile school with micro-learning modules covering key science topics, delivered in multiple languages. Our challenges included satisfying various region’s linguistic requirements and the need for engaging vernacular content. The objective was to create effective modules that transcended language and geographical barriers.

Solution and Execution

ansrsource addressed these challenges by using a holistic approach to create a mobile school with micro-learning modules on science topics including Air, Biodiversity, Energy, Soil, and Water. These modules needed to be accessible to students and teachers in rural, semi-urban, and urban areas, delivered in both English and five vernacular languages.

We utilized 3D character animation, animated videos, and interactive components, engaging a multidisciplinary team of experts, including subject matter specialists, instructional designers, animators, content developers, writers, video editors, and programmers. The team collaborated to create 150 modules in six languages. Techniques like mobile learning, microlearning, and visualization were incorporated to ensure engagement and accessibility.

Results and Transformation

The collaboration yielded practical and engaging modules designed to sustain interest in STEM subjects while providing effective STEM education for economically disadvantaged students. The 18-month development phase resulted in 37.5 hours of impactful learning utilized by more than 1,000 students.
